How to do Business with the State
Workshop Description
The Small Business (SB) and Disabled Veteran Business Enterprise (DVBE) Certification programs were established by the State of California to increase business opportunities for the SB and DVBE community. These programs help SBs and DVBEs participate on a more level playing field when competing for state contracts. At this workshop, you will learn:
- The benefits of becoming a certified SB or DVBE
- How to register with the State’s online procurement system, Cal eProcure
- How to get certified as an SB or DVBE
- How to use the State’s database to get solicitations
- How to market your business to multiple state agencies.
Matt Zweier currently serves as an Outreach Liaison and SB/DVBE Advocate with the California Department of General Services, Procurement Division, Certification and Outreach Branch. In this role, he educates business owners about the benefits and opportunities of pursuing a Small Business (SB) certification, Disabled Veteran Business Enterprise (DVBE) certification, and contracts with the State of California. Matt previously worked in the California State Assembly and California State University system. His background is in communication, education, and government.
