Walnut Creek Community Task Force on Homelessness Seeks Voices, Visionaries, and Change Makers
Are you a business owner who is struggling with panhandling, abusive behaviors, and sanitation issues as a result of homeless individuals loitering around your place of business? Are you a decision maker at the City or County level with an interest in community members living without shelter? Are you a member of a homeless service agency? Here is your opportunity to speak and be heard. Your participation will directly affect implementation of ideas that work.
Please join the conversation at the next meeting of the Walnut Creek Community Task Force on Homelessness, Thursday, April 13, 2pm, St. Paul's Church, 1924 Trinity Avenue, Walnut Creek. An RSVP would be appreciated, though not required. Please e-mail info@trinitycenterwc.org.
The Walnut Creek Community Task Force on Homelessness has been meeting monthly since November 2013 to bring community stakeholders together in a collaborative effort to find immediate short term and long term solutions to the issues around homelessness in Walnut Creek and our surrounding communities. Now we are re-purposing the task force as an advisory committee to bring forward our research and recommendations to City leaders.

Now we are re-purposing the task force as an advisory committee to bring forward our research and recommendations to City leaders.
At the April meeting, the advisory committee will discuss creating a strategic mission and vision for the committee; developing membership and leadership roles & responsibilities and committee goals & objectives; mapping education and communication strategies; and prioritizing five best practices from other cities. We'll also discuss potential new organizational titles, meeting locations and times, and a new committee name.
Why should you participate? When you comment, the advisory committee will listen. One good comment can change an outcome. As a member of the business community and the community at large, your opinions represent the greater world, offering a broader perspective of the effects of homelessness on commerce, economic vitality, and quality of life.
