On June 18, BASS Medical Group held its annual Cancer Survivors Day, a special event dedicated to celebrating cancer survivors, recognizing caregivers, and bringing together members of our community affected by cancer. Held at the Gregory Rhodes MD Cancer Center, the free community event featured physician remarks, survivor stories, and multidisciplinary cancer support resources.

The Shadelands Fall Festival is Back!

A new year and a new name – Made in the Shade is now Shadelands FallFest, and it's back! Enjoy a day with family and friends at the Shadelands FallFest, Sunday, November 8, 11am–2pm, held on the grounds of the Shadelands SportsMall, 2640 Shadelands Drive, Walnut Creek. This popular, all-community fall festival, hosted by Shadelands Walnut Creek, is free and family-friendly, and features a live DJ and nonstop music, food trucks, ice cream, craft beer, Shadelands exhibitors, giveaways, and free sports activities for all ages, including yoga, golf, soccer, dance, gymnastics, basketball, volleyball, taekwondo, and batting cages.

Your Feedback Will Help Determine
the Future of the Free Shadelands Bart Shuttle
|
In June 2024, Shadelands Walnut Creek rolled out its newly rebranded and re-wrapped BART shuttle bus, County Connection #7. The free Shadelands BART shuttle transports passengers in and around Shadelands and between Shadelands and the Pleasant Hill BART station every 20 minutes during morning and afternoon commutes. This month, Shadelands Walnut Creek is surveying riders and non-riders to gauge public awareness, interest, and ridership, as well as opportunities to improve service. Participation in the survey is critical to determining the future of the free shuttle. Please take the Shadelands BART Bus Survey. Feedback deadline is August 15.

Springfield Montessori To Celebrate 35 Years With Celebration & Ribbon Cutting, August 20
|
Springfield Montessori School Walnut Creek was founded in 1990 by longtime educator Shashi Lal, who follows the Montessori philosophy of education developed by Dr. Maria Montessori. “Here we follow the child, creating an environment that is open and organized, and that fosters their curiosity and sense of self-directed exploration, encourages hands-on engagement and independence, and provides a foundation for positive academic experiences,” said Rosanne Esplanada, Springfield’s admissions director. Now Springfield is celebrating its 35th year serving students and families in a big way, and the public is invited to mark the occasion and join in the fun.

Set among the groomed gardens of the historic Shadelands Ranch Museum, the Walnut Creek Historical Society’s annual Shadelands Summer Market, August 23, is a free, family-friendly, open-air market featuring more than 40 vendors offering distinctive, locally produced arts and crafts and artisanal foods, as well as vintage and one-of-a-kind treasures from the Ranch Museum's antique and historical collections. Stroll and shop to live music, and grab a bite at the food trucks.

National Night Out in Walnut Creek,

The Walnut Creek Police Department invites you to come out and join them for National Night Out on Tuesday, August 4, 3-6pm, at Broadway Plaza, downtown Walnut Creek. National Night Out is an annual event held across the country to strengthen relationships between law enforcement and the communities they serve, and to build police-community partnerships and neighborhood camaraderie. Each year, millions of neighbors participate by attending local gatherings such as block parties, festivals, and cookouts, creating opportunities to connect with first responders and one another.

Walnut Creek Chamber of Commerce & Visitors Bureau Names New President & CEO

Exciting transition news from the Walnut Creek Chamber of Commerce & Visitors Bureau. The organization has named Caitlin Meaney Burrows as its new president and CEO. Caitlin is taking over the leadership position as the Walnut Creek Chamber marks its 100th year in operation and looks ahead to new opportunities to champion Walnut Creek's growth and the health of the business community. Chamber Board Chair Angela Ashley noted that Caitlin's nearly 40 years in business strategy, finance, and organizational leadership made her the board's choice to guide the chamber's work on behalf of local businesses and the city's economy.
