A new year and a new name – Made in the Shade is now Shadelands FallFest, and it's back! Enjoy a day with family and friends at Shadelands FallFest, Sunday, November 15, 11am–2pm, held on the grounds of the Shadelands SportsMall, 2640 Shadelands Drive, Walnut Creek. This popular, all-community fall festival, hosted by Shadelands Walnut Creek, is free and family-friendly, and features a DJ spinning nonstop music, food trucks, ice cream, craft beer, Shadelands exhibitors, giveaways, and free sports activities for all ages, including golf, soccer, dance, gymnastics, basketball, volleyball, taekwondo, and batting cages.

Shadelands Ranch Pumpkin Patch: For the Child in Everyone

Opening October 1, the Shadelands Ranch Pumpkin Patch has been a cherished autumn destination since 1984. Located at the Shadelands Ranch Museum, and clearly visible from Ygnacio Valley Road, the family-friendly attraction offers a wide selection of pumpkins and gourds, and interactive activities such as puzzle games, arcade basketball, and a petting zoo for all ages. Little ones will find hamster balls, bumper boats, and a cow train ride just their size.

Note to local parents, students, teachers, and library lovers: The Ygnacio Valley Library at 2661 Oak Grove Road, Walnut Creek, is turning an exciting new page. The popular neighborhood branch is now temporarily closed through May 31, 2027, while crews carry out a sweeping infrastructure overhaul focused on climate control, safety, and energy efficiency. The project is part of Contra Costa County Library's broader push to modernize its facilities countywide. At the Ygnacio Valley branch, this means addressing critical structural and interior building systems.
