It was all smiles, hugs, and handshakes on August 20 when Springfield Montessori School Walnut Creek celebrated its 35th anniversary with a festive ribbon cutting and community celebration, welcoming current and former teachers, staff, and students. Holding the big scissors is Springfield owner Melody Lal; to her right is Walnut Creek Mayor Kevin Wilk, whose children attended Springfield 30 years ago.

A new year and a new name – Made in the Shade is now Shadelands FallFest, and it's back! Enjoy a day with family and friends at Shadelands FallFest, Sunday, November 15, 11am–2pm, held on the grounds of the Shadelands SportsMall, 2640 Shadelands Drive, Walnut Creek. This popular, all-community fall festival, hosted by Shadelands Walnut Creek, is free and family-friendly, and features a live DJ and nonstop music, food trucks, ice cream, craft beer, Shadelands exhibitors, giveaways, and free sports activities for all ages, including yoga, golf, soccer, dance, gymnastics, basketball, volleyball, taekwondo, and batting cages.

Established in 2013 at the corner of N. Wiget Lane and Mitchell Drive, KLA Schools of Walnut Creek, distinct in its child-led, inquiry-based approach to early childhood education, is part of the largest franchise network of Reggio Emilia-inspired schools in the United States. Election day is Tuesday, November 3. For the first time in recent history, two candidates are running for two open Walnut Creek City Council seats, leading to an uncontested race. That means both candidates, Cherise Khaund and Brendan Moran, will join Walnut Creek City Council this December 2026. In place of a traditional Candidate Forum, the Walnut Creek Chamber of Commerce & Visitors Bureau will host a Civic Affairs event featuring councilmembers-elect Cherise Khaund and Brendan Moran in conversation with Walnut Creek Chamber Board Chair Angela Ashley.
