Reading and Panel Discussion: "One Woman's War Against the War" by Rosa del Duca
Join Flashlight Books Saturday, June 8th, 4-6 p.m., for a reading and panel discussion featuring Bay Area Iraq War Veterans. Rosa del Duca’s new memoir, Breaking Cadence: One Woman’s War Against the War, chronicles her journey from eager 17-year-old recruit to conscientious objector. The book is being hailed as gripping, beautifully-written, vital, and immensely compelling. She will be joined in both the reading portion of the event and the panel discussion by poet Victor Inzunza, and writer, teacher and activist Eddie Falcon. Inzunza enlisted in the Marine Corps shortly before the September 11th attacks and served two tours in Iraq. Falcon joined the Air Force just before 9/11 and served tours in Afghanistan and Iraq. He now serves on the board of directors for Warrior Writers. All three veterans will open up about their experiences in uniform, from recruitment and training, to war, moral injury, and the pressure to stay silent rather than stand up against an Unjust War. Light refreshments provided.
